Do I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?

I know I have some of the symptoms of OCD, like anxiety about certain situations (like being in an elevator) and consequentially avoiding those situations. But I have some interesting symptoms that I haven't seen mentioned on websites.

I have problems touching certain materials. Actually, most materials. Plastic is one of the only exceptions. This is a list (in decreasing severity) of materials I have difficulty touching: brown paper bags, water, normal white paper, glass, wood, metals unless they are polished, cloth (the softer the cloth the more able I am to touch it), hair, and human skin. Using Kwiksort (paper sorting hand-stuff) generally helps to the point where I can tolerate it. When I don't use KwikSort, I usually feel nauseated when i touch these materials and say to myself "don't think about it" repeatedly. I can use public bathrooms, but can't wash my hands. If a floor in any establishment is wet, I will leave immediately.

Should I see a doctor? I have limited $$

Do I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?
if i tell u not to think of red and yellow monkeys swimming in your bathtub, whats the first thing you think of?

u have ur quirks.everyone does. do u know the reason why u dont want to touch these things? look back in ur childhood if u can.

u dont have to see a doc if its not affecting greatly the way u live.
Reply:these are phobias. I would not say you have OCD
Reply:classic ocd.. contact a mental health facility like comp care. They work on a sliding scale so anyone can afford it. good luck, hope you feel better soon.
Reply:yeah, it seems like you do, i mean im only 15, lol, but you should get a check up maybe. If u see a doctor it only costs like $20.00 i think. that's how much it costs for a check up at my local doctor, hope this helps. Recently i have wondered if i have it to.
Reply:sounds like you have some sort of 'touch' related phobia, i would advise asking your doctor about it and see what they suggest.

if you don't feel comfortable with that you could try tackling the minor phobias first, so first try exposing yourself to cloth in small amounts and slowly increase the amount and time you touch it. continue this with the others too.....just a thought..
