Is scatching a personality disorder symptom?

I've been scratching my left arm without realizing it constantly until it gets a rash and turns permently red. I have no idea when I'm doing it and I only do it during certain times of the day. I've been going through a very difficult and odd time lately, I've been doing other things like this such as not eating because of loss of appetite, talking to myself without knowing and I'm incredibly obsessive and frustrated all of a sudden, all of these things started after an unforunate event, and my friend suggested I try and find some answers to my obsessive scratching; before it starts cutting my skin.

Is scatching a personality disorder symptom?
I'm not exactly sure what it is but it sounds like a build up of stress and or anxiety, or even being too nervous. I think you need to find time to relax if you don't already. You could see a professional about who can go into more detail with you.
Reply:cognitive therapy helps after an unfortunate event.

You are doing what they call "SELF SOOTHING", but it's become obsessive. You started one behavior and it's continued.

Get out the old notebook and hit the pen to the paper and write about your unfortunate event, it will help get it out of you and on paper so you can reread it, and understand that it doesn't define you.

Therapy wouldn't hurt, but if you can't talk about it, then write.

Any behavior that is causing you harm, or repeative behavior that others notice and is interfering in your daily life or is bothersome, need attention. Seek the help you need.

Talk to your family doctor!

I wish you the best of luck, email or IM me.
