How likely is it for a 16 yr old girl to have breast cancer? And general womanly advice:?

I've found a lump on the inner edge of my left breast, doesn't hurt but tender before my period. There is a possibility that it could just be my rib?!? My right nipple is itchy and there is a small bit of discharge (generally clear, but sometimes, rarely, there were red blood dots where the pores are as well as the clear discharge. I do have a history of skin disorders like eczema and psoriasis (which could explain the nipple thing).

How likely is it for a 16 yr old girl to have breast cancer? And general womanly advice:?
the lump in the breast could be due to hormonal changes,i always get tender breasts before my period is due and i have a few lumps too,but they are only there just before my period is due,i also have a lump that is there permanently which i had checked out and it's just gristle or something ,nothing to worry about,as for the discharge i'm not sure, why don't you try talking to a nurse or a female doctor,if it's nothing then at least your mind will be set at ease, cancer can strike at any age but i wouldn't think too much on it being that as you will only make yourself ill.
Reply:Anyone can have cancer and at any age. That is the unfortunate news. The fortunate is that cancer is less likely to occur in a 16 year old than in an older woman. Most breast lumps in young girls are benign (non-cancerous). However, that said, benign cells are capble of undergoing malignant change.

For you own health and for peace of mind, I would advise you to see your doctor ASAP.
Reply:1. It is extremely unlikely for a 16 year old to have breast cancer.

But.

2. Weird breast lumps and discharges should *always* be investigated by a doctor. While tender lumps related to your cycle are more typically fluid-filled cysts than anything worrisome, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Reply:ALWAYS SEE A DR OR GP IF YOU THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG DONT ASK ON HERE AS WE CANT SEE THE PROBLEM AND WERE NOT DRS SOME ONE MIGHT SAY ITS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT WHEN IT MIGHT BE DONT WAIT GO SOON THANKS FROM CAROL JOHNS WIFE IVE HAD 4 KIDS SO KNOW A BIT
Reply:Get it checked out - you need to get the discharge sorted anyway. But at 16 you are probably still developing so could just be a type of growing pain - i think it is probably related to your nipple problem to be honest. the chances of cancer in a 16yr old is slim but not impossble. check out your family history for that too.
Reply:I would think that you are rather young for this but if you are having discharge from your nipple as well as a lump then I would get to the doctor ASAP!!! I dont think this is something you can ignore what ever your age and whether you have a skin disorder or not!! Talk to your mother and see what she says as she is your best and honest friend as well as your mother you could not get a more honest answer the from your own mother When you grow older you will come to realise this. I hope your ok!!
Reply:Not very likely. It is something I worry about as well. My mother passed away from breast cancer.

It could be a cyst. I know one of the posters said you could have cancer at any age, but breast cancer USUALLY surfaces at the later ages (50+). However, it can be found in younger women but I have not heard of many cases of 16 year olds with it. Your breasts may still be developing, and you could even be feeling fatty tissues (I scare myself sometimes!!!!).

If it is worrying you this much you should see your doctor. Or, you can visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breast_exam to see how to give yourself a breast exam.

Good luck!
