Eating Disorder?

I have been over weight my whole life. I am 5'2 and 24 years old. At my heaviest I was 200lbs that was 2 years ago, I now weight 138. I know what your thinking.. wow..thats great. And it is, but I still look in the mirror and see that fat girl. Dont get me wrong I still have more than enough fat, hips thighs a butt ..its all there.

Anyway, My fiance has been away for the last 6 months, since he has been gone i have been extremelly depressed, and in turn i always put a lot of blame on my weight. About 4 months ago I started throwing up after I ate, not all the time but I was doing it, If i felt guilty. Istarted getting nose bleeds, my tounge was a wierd color and my skin was looking horrible. I decided if i went at this alone and never told anyone things would only get worse. So I decided to tell my fiance what was going on, not to worry him but for some help. Someone to turn to someone to keep asking me and a reason not to do it anymore...

Eating Disorder?
I think that you should also look into any self help books and most probably look into talking to a therapist. My friend used to be overweight when she was in middle school and when she started high school she lost a lot of weight. It took her a long time to "feel" thin , even though she looked thin. I think its perfectly normal to still feel insecure about your body since you struggled with it for so long. BUT it's not normal to throw up after you eat (bulemia nervosa) that is something you do NOT want to do, and should look into getting help for.
Reply:You may not be able to have children if you keep doing that and your metabolism will go down causing you to gain more weight later. Your hair will fall out too and you will grow more body hair and that is gross.
Reply:I have a niece who was struggling with bulimia for several years. My sister finally got her some counseling and she was much better, but not overnight. I think you should find someone to talk to about your eating disorder who will encourage you while holding you accountable. Please e-mail me if you would like to talk more.
Reply:If you are throwing up the food that you eat that is definitely an eating disorder. I would tell your fiancee if you weel that you need his support. Bulimia is very dangerous, the stomach acid eats away at your throat tissue, it degrades the enamel on your teeth, etc. You are not fat. I know it is easy to be self critical and stuff, but you are not fat. I would suggest trying to do things so that you don't feel guilty after eating. Make sure to eat healthy things, etc. Remember too, one treat is not going to gain you back all that weight. If you keep feeling like this I would go and talk to your doctor.

Good luck!
Reply:hey my name is misty n i am 24 i know how u fell i was n the same boat you r n my heaviest was 410lbs yeah i know thats real big but i have lost most of the weight doing what u doing is not right i use to b that way untill a very good friend of mind sat me down n told me that is was not the way to go by doing that stuff i died 4 diff times not to scare u r nothing but if u keep doing this to your self then u well hurt your self like i did so plz stop doing what u doing if u wanna kept liveing cause if u dont stop u will die hope u get help n by the way u did a good job by telling your fiance k hope u take my advice bye

Eating Disorder, OCD, fetish? Is it harmful physically?

I have a client who eats her fingernails, skin, hair, nasal discharge and bu****s, eye crust and scabs. Is this a person stuck in an infantile stage of develpment, part of a fetish (she is non-sexual and claims to have no libido) or simply a form of pica? My actual main concern however is whether the consumption of her own flesh can harm her in any way. I have heard that cannibals are more likely to develop brain diseases and I am thinking this is a form of self-cannibalism.

A recent writing assignment reveals that the sight of the blood is very important to her.

Eating Disorder, OCD, fetish? Is it harmful physically?
It shouldn't hurt her physically. Lots of kids eat snot, dried or otherwise (ever seen a toddler just letting it run into his mouth?). Gross, I know, but not harmful. Also, many of us chew our fingernails wiht no harmful effect so far. Lots of people absentmindedly chew on their hair as well. I wouldn't worry about her Physical health, unless she's self-inflicting wounds for blood/scabs.

Cannibals are more likely to develop prion disease (like mad cow) if they eat the brains of other infected people. It's not just the act of cannibalism that causes it.
Reply:Well actually the harm physically is insignificant ...

however the harm would be more of mental ... specially as she grows old ....

she needs to see a shrink ... its serious!
Reply:Everything that enters the throat either goes to the lungs (air, oxygen etc) or to the stomach. If it's dangerous to the body white blood cells will remove the threat; otherwise it goes to the stomach %26amp; gets digested for any "goodness" (protein, fat, etc) and any waste, or anything that isn't good is excreted out of the body.

I think the part about eating flesh is B-S, I don't know anyone who doesn't "eat" their hang-nails or the dry skin on their lips.

Working in a kennel, how can i stop myself catching ringworm from the animals?

I work weekends at a dog/cat boarding kennel, which means i am constantly in contact with a circulating bunch of ALOT of dogs %26amp; cats.

I am very paranoid, almost obsessive-compulsive, when it comes to contagious things such as ringworm %26amp; mange %26amp; other hideous little bugs that can be passed to humans...%26amp; there are a number of animals at the kennel that have hairless patches on their skin %26amp; other nasty looking little skin disorders [my boss just calls it "dermatitis" which could be what the owners have told them it is, %26amp; some dogs have medications for dermatological disorders....]

I HATE IT! I mean, I wash my hands alot while I am working there, but is there any other way that I can reduce my chances of getting ringworm from these animals [cats can even carry it without showing symptoms]. I am freaked out...it makes me itchy just thinking about it! it is not practical to wear gloves while working there.

Working in a kennel, how can i stop myself catching ringworm from the animals?
i work in a grooming salon and see a lot of the same stuff. it's been several years since i started and i've not gotten infected yet. i am very observant and refuse to offer service to any pet that has questionable lesions. that not always being an option, keep plenty of antibacterial gel on hand and wash hands and arms as often as possible. good luck.
Reply:Wear latex gloves and long sleeve shirts and pants to reduce your risk of exposure. It may not be practical but either is getting sick. lol
Reply:always wear gloves!
Reply:Best thing to do is discuss it with a vet. And or Doctor. Look for a new job.
Reply:Wash your hands well before and after handling an animal You will avoid infection.Great hand washing is the single most effective means of preventing the spread of disease. If you hate it, find a job where you can flourish.Have a great year and keep your options open.
Reply:Chances of you contracting ringworm are small, but still there. and not just ringworm. Read below.

Another disease we can contract from our dog is ringworm. Ringworm is a fungal skin disease which is highly contagious, especially for children. It is spread by direct contact but can also be airborne. Your vet can diagnose your dog if it has ringworm by cultures. Your dog may have round, hairless, scaly patches on her skin. If you think your dog might have ringworm, be sure not to let your child touch the dog until your vet has finished treating the dog.

Unlike ringworm, which is a fungus, round worm are really worms, and can spread from dogs to children, especially when the dogs are puppy age. Children need to be taught not to pick up or play with animal feces, and to use good hygiene with frequent hand washing when playing with a dog. Puppies need to be wormed early, and as the adult owner of a dog, you need to be responsible for disposing of fresh waste daily out of the way of you and your children.

Be especially vigilant about good hygiene and prevention of potential infections if your family includes people with cancer, AIDS/HIV, organ transplant patients, pregnant women, infants, and children under five, because these groups of people may be more susceptible to infection.

There are some simple steps you can take as a dog owner to prevent potential infections. Hand washing is the one of the most important, especially after handling dog feces. If you have children, you may want to supervise their hand washing.

Try not to directly handle animal feces. Wear a pair of gloves, and wash your hands even after you take the gloves off. Dispose of fresh waste immediately.

If you think you are getting or starting to get ringworm, an anti-fungual will cure you right up. Just like athleats foot.
Reply:I use to work at the SPCA(3 kids and preg with #4 makes it impossible to work anymore) 90% of the animals that came in where strays. One of the best things is most parisites are species specific dog mange only affects dogs, cat lice only feed on cats, fleas don't like human blood, but will hitch rides on us. Worms are the worst part, they don't affect humans like they do dogs(round worms can acually cause blindness in a human!) As a precaution working with the animals I wore coveralls, gloves and rubber boots. I also got human de-wormer tablets from the pharmacy. As for ring worm, it's a nasty one and almost impossible to get rid of(a co-workers son got infected). Just keep washing your hands and using disinfectants. Being a kennel all the animals should be de-wormed and vaccinated right? Then you shouldn't have too much to worry about. Good luck!
Reply:wear the gloves and wash your hands with bleach water after every positive animal with ring worm clean last it very contagious
Reply:wear long sleeves, the ringworm is transferred by spores and it likes hair follicles, so long sleeve will protect your arms, and long pants will protect your legs. Only one type of mange is contagious...sarcoptic mange...but hopefully there are no dog with that boarding, they would infect everyone. If you see any dogs with suspicious looking skin, do wash your hands afterwards. You can just wear thin latex gloves, they will still allow you to have some movement but will still protect your hands. I suggest wearing heavier rubber gloves when cleaning out cages.
Reply:Maybe you should look into a new career?

It might be a sebaceous cyst....not contagious at all.
Reply:Wow someones alittle ignorant...Its not a disease from Africa and just because that person has really dark skin doesnt mean their from Africa, and because of that comment Im going to disreguard the intial question at hand. When you get some free time educate yourself you'll feel much better.

I have a compulsion to pick at my skins. im not on any drugs and ive been doing it ever since i was little. i do most of it on my head so my hair covers it up, but i have open scabs all over my head and a few years ago it moved to also picking at my face. any hint of a pimple and i squeeze and pick until theres no sign of a pimple, but there is a huge trench in my face. my mom keeps asing me why cant i just stop and i really want to, i am very embarrased about how my face looks and i dont let anyone touch my hair or head in fear that they will ask whats with the scabs. it doesnt make me feel good, i dont thinbk its a self injury thing, its just something that i cant resist doingm, its like i have to, i even do it in my sleep.....i know its not normal but maybe someone can give me the names of some similar disorders and some sources so i can research it

Is this some sort of disorder?
Hi, you probably do need to see a doctor for treatment for OCD. I work in skincare, so I have heard of this... i found this online...Dermatillomania

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(Redirected from Compulsive skin picking)

Jump to: navigation, search

Dermatillomania (also known as compulsive skin picking or CSP) is an obsessive compulsive disorder characterized by the repeated urge to pick at one's own skin, often to the extent that damage is caused.

Sufferers of dermatillomania find skin picking to be stress relieving or gratifying rather than painful. An episode of skin-picking is often preceded by high levels of tension, anxiety, or paranoia, coupled with a seemingly irresistible "urge" or "itch" to pick.

Damage from CSP is common on the face, back, scalp, and extremities, and is usually caused by a mixture of picking, scratching, biting, and tweezing. Focus may be placed on ingrown hairs, scabs, insect bites, pimples, or cuticles. Sufferers of the condition may enter an trance-like state for periods of up to several hours, only to be confronted with the results afterward.
Reply:yes it is, you should see a doctor for a referral to a psychologist. It can probably be treated
Reply:maybe some kind of an obsessive compulsive disorder. I dont know, talk to your Dr.
Reply:When you're about to do it, stop, see what happends and do something else to confort you.

Psychotherapy might help you.

My cats licking / chewing off his furr???

I adopted a cat from an animal shelter in april, he has no sign of fleas or a skin disorder but hes always licking and chewing off his fur. He has barley any fur on his lower belly now or around his paws...were bringing him to the vet tomorow does anyone know what this could be

My cats licking / chewing off his furr???
If there is no sign of fleas or other skin irritation, it could be allergies (environmental or food), it could be an endocrine problem, or it could be a stress reaction. Have your vet run a complete blood panel to rule out illness. If it turns out to be stress washing, your vet can prescribe medicine to calm him and stop the behavior.

I had a cat who used to stress wash and she ended up washing her sides entirely bald. She was much better after she had been on meds for a while, and she was later able to come off of the meds without returning to stress washing.

Good luck with him.
Reply:It sounds like a skin disorder.....
Reply:It could be a skin issue.

But if you adopted him from the shelter he could have some mental problems that you don't know about from before he was at the shelter.

Cats are known to get depressed and self mutilate. They suggest that you adopt cats in pairs so that they don't have time to get depressed.
Reply:..........your cat is stressed? Thats the only reason that i can think of. try circling your fingers on its head and shoulders to relax your cat, do that for about 10 minutes a day until after a couple of weeks it should calm down.Hope that helps!!!
Reply:it could be alergies b/c one of my animals did that and when we took them in all we had to do was give them a shot and it was better
Reply:I think your cat may have fleas that's the only thing i could think it would be. Well you taking her to the vet is a good idea or you could try flea medicine and see if it works.
Reply:It could be he's grooming himself or a skin infection.
Reply:Its sounds like your cat as allergies. However this could be caused by stress of being in a new place with new smells. It could also be his age, older cats seem to develop skin irrations without any visible troubles.I have a 8 year old Siamese cat and she does this if I don't give her baths. The skin could be dried out and causing him to itch like he does.vitamin E helps with dry skin and dull coats.Vitamin E helps promote a healthy coat and will give it a nice healthy shine and it will help with the dry skin as well.Your vet may also recommend that you change his diet as well.It sounds like a allergy problem. He may also have parasites that you cant see.I hope this has helped you out.I wish you luck with your vet visit.
Reply:probly flees or something like that.....ewww....poor thing.
Reply:one of my cats has an allergy that causes his skin to get very irritated and then he licks his tummy til it becomes raw and bleeds. He is now on meds that have helped no end and now his hair has grown back!

Cats also lick a lot if they are stressed or bored.

Why do medications have such a small effect on me, but a large one on others?

I was on this med that helped me with my skin disorder. If my dad took it for his (same problem, I get it from him) it would work like wonders. I took it, and it did nothing. Also if he took it with dairy, he would vomit but it didn't effect me with dairy. I ended up taking like 4 of those pills before being put on the strongest one they could find and even that didn't work well after 1 year of taking it. So why do medications have such a small effect on me? What in the body makes some people more effected then others with medications?

Why do medications have such a small effect on me, but a large one on others?
Could be the amount of the medication. A different dose maybe. Sometimes a person has to take diff doses depending on how much they weigh or stuff like that.Or could be, for example, when I have umm well something.....i take like a regular Advil or painkiller, but since I've taken a lot over the years it doesn't have the same effect as a normal dose, so I have to take more than usual.
Reply:because your wierd
Reply:meds. react to your body chemistry differntlythan others it just a natrual thing.
Reply:Everyone's genetic makeup is so different, it's super-hard to tell!

^_~b Dri b~_^
Reply:Well one possibility is that you don't in fact have the same problem; they just think you do, which would explain why none of the drugs seemed to work!!

Assuming that they did in fact get it right... there are many genetic factors that can alter our response to drugs. When you take a pill, the drug has to be absorbed into the blood. Once its in the blood, it has to be distributed to the site of action.

The body also metabolises (chemically changes) the drug. Some drugs depend on being checmically changed by the body in order to work; other drugs get made inactive by these chemical changes. An example of proteins relevant in metabolising drugs are the cytochrome P450 enzymes. Some people possess no functional versions of these enzymes, some people possesss many versions. This means that these people both show very different reactions to the same drug. Finally, the drug is excreted from the body; this could be in the urine, in the faeces, or via the bile, for example.

Proteins play a part in all these processes - and genes code for proteins. We all have different genes, and therefore we can have different copies/different amounts of these proteins. This means that everyone's response to a drug is likely to be different. In addition, proteins code for the target site - and so the target side can also be different - again, affecting the response. For example, you may have the same disease as your father, but a slightly different version.

It is however surprising that you are so different to your father... I suppose its possible that your mother has very different copies of the relevant genes to those of your father, which you may have inherited.

There are other factors that affect drug response - for example if people have had diseases or surgery affecting their gastrointestinal tract (oesophagus, stomach, intestines) it would affect the absorption of the drug. It might be something as simple as whether or not you take it with food.

There can also be interactions with other drugs - for example, the cytochrome P450 enzymes I mentioned earlier... if you're taking one drug which makes them more active, they will break down other drugs faster, which could inactivate them faster, meaning they have no effect.

I doubt that ALL medications have a small effect on you... just this particular one/this particular type.
Reply:Your question is a very complicated one. I think we can only guess. We can't say the exact reason on yahoo answers. A doctor can tell the exact reason. But I'll try to do my best.

As you know, laboratory animals are used for preparing medications. If they affect the animal in the way that scientists want, and the side-effects are tolerable, then it's used for humans.

It may not work for human beings, because we don't have the same genetic codes with those animals.(In that case, they start again.)

Also, all the human beings don't have the same codes either... The scientists try the medicines with a small group of people. They make the decision according to that group. If it works for the most of the group, then they sell it. You may be one of the people who isn't in the majority.

Another reason may be pyschology.

There was an experiment about that. Three groups of people were taken. First group takes nothing. Second group takes vitamin C. The last group takes something which they consider it as vitamin C, but it's not! At the end, the percentages of the healthy ones were exactly or nearly the same for the last two groups which are also greater than the first group!!!

Another reason may be the other things you eat with the medications. For example, you said you can take it with dairy. It may lessen the effects of the medications. But, you wrote you've taken for a year. So I think it's not a big possibility in your case.

But, if you are taking other medications, they may affect each other negatively.

So the most possible reasons may be

-your genetic code,

-your pychology

(-or other medications you take (if there are) )

He is weak in the mind and is trying to find accpetance in the country dominated by white people. The rest of us are old fighters. We stand up proud of who we are. One psychological problem I find is that the system tend to convince us that our disgust at what is affecting us equals racism too. Blacks generally do not need to teach tear children how to love people from different races and not be prejudiced. This is inborn...but the defiance that comes out of victimization is used as a tool to say "share the blame, you feel this weird contemptious petty prejudice too!"

Reply:I suggest you devote some of your time to learning about vitiligo

Here are some of the symptoms associated with this particular disease:

Vitiligo is more noticeable in darker skinned people because of the contrast of white patches against dark skin.

There is a sudden or gradual appearance of flat areas of normal-feeling skin with complete pigment loss. Lesions appear as flat areas with no pigment and with a darker border. The edges are sharply defined but irregular.

Frequently affected areas are the face, elbows and knees, hands and feet, and genitalia.

My parents Palm is mean to my dog George.?

My dads Palm is really grouchy at 3yrs old, last year when my George was a babe, my father kept them seperated while out together.. I had to put G outside after he contacted a skin disorder. now I have an issue wanting them to get alone, G gets upset when the Palm is real snappy, showing agression with the Palm. How can i break the Palm, G wants to love and play, i have show him the difference in his larger size, about the size of a female pit.. though a mix, lab, riemeraner and pit.. a baby, i have done and doing lots more training with him, though the Palm is jelious of him to due to me being G's master/leader.. Leader jeliousy of the palm.. G is not so bad with sharing.. omg.. HELP

My parents Palm is mean to my dog George.?
The problem here is that the Pom has been taught that it's okay to act aggressive towards the other dog. What you need to do now is teach him that it's not okay by getting them together in a neutral zone where neither dog feels he has ownership and just let them be near each other. They will butt sniff and snap at each other but this is normal and almost always harmless. You need to stay right there in case the snapping gets out of control and into full fighting. Have some toys and treats and when they are acting nicely together reward both of them and then let them play again. You need to have a calm state of mind which will help them since if you are not tense about the situation they won't be either. It is going to take time and anytime you can have them together even if it's for 5 minutes will help. Try taking the 2 of them out for a walk together or play ball in the yard. If they see being together as a positive fun time they will be more likely to play nicely and look forward to it.

Reply:Get 2 crates and in the morning when there tired put the crates face to face and let one dog out at a time then when you finally feel there might be a difference let them out together but put a leash and collar on each and put them just far enough apart if they snap at each other they cant get at each other. Then when there kind of ignoring each other or getting along then let them off the leashes

I have a type of scleriderma called Morphia I want it removed, is this possible?

I know this is a rare skin disorder but the doctors I have seen have not been much help

I have a type of scleriderma called Morphia I want it removed, is this possible?
topically apply neem oil before bed and wear cotton (preferably black) pajamas to bed. Internally take neem bark or leaf capsules, 3 per day, and 1 milk thistle per day, and 1 turmeric capsule per day. I have never dealt with morphia but this does work on other types of scleriderma.

Does anyone know the CSI where...?

The one where there is a woman who has a dog that she uses to attack runners on a trail. She then cuts out/harvests the organs that contain the most blood, dries them out to make a powder, and then uses this powder to make shakes that she drinks. I think she has some sort of skin disorder or something like that. Can anyone help me out with this?

Does anyone know the CSI where...?

okay well here is the thing. everyone suffers from acne. the thing is that i am also one of the million teenagers who does too... but i'd say i have a mild case of acne. i've tried proactive pills nutrogena clearasil toothpaste just about everything but nothing works for me. my conclusion is that i have a skin disorder and i dont have acne... anyone understand? i've thought about laser surgery but i heard thats a lot of money... i just wanted to know whats your opinion on what i should do?

Acne Problem... No Solution..?
Try microdermabrasion, Cheaper Have you tried murads?

see a dermatologist first my friend has cystic acne and his is clearing now that he is seeing a dermatologist they put him on some pills and face creams .. there really good.
Reply:Try going to a dermatoligist and see what they recommend.
Reply:Go to a dermatologist. If it's bad enough they will prescribe something such as Retin-A to help. Only a doctor can really give you an answer by seeing your face.
Reply:i know you said that you have tried every thing but have you tryed washing real good and then using a Cotton ball and go over it good with rubbing alcohol it stings at first but it does the trick it worked for me and it now works for my son too,

Reply:try using aloe. Cause that happen to me before, and my grandparents got me aloe and says it really good for ance. Its takes about 4days - 2 weeks to clear.
Reply:Do not scratch or pick at it act like it isn't even there do not try to squish it will make it worse wash your face at night with hand soap or whatever you have with warm water or use what i do Herbal Essences Astrigent it works great you will see results in just a week or so
Reply:You could go to a dermatologist, but a lot of the things that they'll perscribe will just make it worse and then it might go away or it might not. I used Retin-A and it just tore up my face. You might just have to keep trying a few home remedies. I know opening up your pores by using steam and then getting a clean cotton ball and putting astringint on your face helps a bit. It stings and you can't do it all the time because your face will dry out, but that's one way to keep those pores clean so acne won't reappear! As far as what's already there, you can use a toner that will help with scaring. Try Burts Bees tomato toner.

I've had horrible acne and these things worked for me!
Reply:best option is to go see the dermatologist. They can reccomend the best steps for you. I had horribel acne as a teen and was put on Accutaine. It's serious med for serious acne.
Reply:I was also a teenager with acne. I'm 21 now and still have it. But I've found a pretty good way of keeping it under control where it's not so out there. First of all I changed my diet. No red meat or milk. They put alot of hormones in those things, and too much can make your skin worse. I also have a skin care routien. First I use lemon juice, I use the kind that comes in a fake lemon. I put a good amount on a cotton ball, and apply it everywhere. Let it dry for ten mins. Then rinse. I do that at least once a day. The lemon helps break down the oils and dirts in the pores. I also use Tea Tree Oil. You can find it in the vitamin isle at wal-mart. it stinks but it works. I use that every day and night. Along with that I you a salystic acid gel like from neutrogena. A few weeks after I started , I noticed a difference. I still have it, but it's not as bad. But I do know how you feel, at one time I thought I had something else wrong, but it's just one of those weird genetic things. Oh and never take accutane, I did, it didn;t work and I have some health problems because of it.
Reply:Go to a dermatologist.
Reply:Have you tried Olay's Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel? (I use the one for combination/oily skin). I have acne prone skin. I've been using Olay's face wash for about a year now and it's a pretty good cleanser and inexpensive. Maybe you just haven't found the product that's right for you. Good Luck...

Reply:Yea, I do understand you - I had it for 3 years.. and many researches, time and try help me get rid of it (my skin looks absolutely clean now but I'm still taking good care of it)

Here is tips...

1. Skin is part of your organism and if you have skin disorder - look deeper - there must be another peobloem in your organism too (like disbacterios, intestens issues, liver problems etc) Or it can just be a lot of stress, pure diet, no enough fresh air and exsersice. So you want to get rid of you problem - first of all - CHANGE YOU LIFE STYLE...

2. Can be something you wash your face with and cosmetics you use... With skin problem - no cheap supermarket or Wallgreens products ! Only professional skin care FOR SENSETIVE SKIN!

3. No Hot or Spicy food. (no chocolate and fat food too) - Eat more vegetables and buy vitamin supplements and antioxodants.

Easest way to take antioxodants - concentrated green tea (link to greean tea and also there you can find links to vitamins, cosmetics, life style and more http://www.markofpassion.com/beauty.html

just search around careful)

also use baby cream with zinc if your skin look red (it helps redness go away) Avene Thermal Water skin care is good source, but I don't know where in you city they have it, in Boston some CVS have it.

4. No scrabs or any other heavy application alowed with skin disorder. Insted of it keep it clean, but NO SOAP, gentle face washes again from good sources.

5. Visit dermatologist - you will need to use antibiotics for a month or so, to get rid of it forever and after just READ again all above...
Reply:Neutragena Acne Wash and a generic toner called Witch Hazel. Won't dry out your skin and helps keep it clean! By the way, are you taking any drugs? Or, are you stressed out? Both can cause acne. Lastly, dont put you hand on your face to rest your head. Germs can cause acne. Good luck!
Reply:How about Doxycycline? It's an antibiotic to help acne/rosasea. Ask the Dermatologist about that.
Reply:Go to the drugstore and buy both benzoyl peroxide (or salicylic acid, for sensitive skin) and a tube of 1% hydrocortisone cream. Apply a dab of each to your pimples now and continue regularly. The combination of benzoyl peroxide and hydrocortisone cream will significantly reduce inflammation.

Severe breakouts need intralesional injection by a dermatologist. This involves injecting a small amount of low-strength steroid into the pimples. A single dose will zap the zit by the next day.

What is Acne Complex?

http://www.askaquery.com/Answers/qn1548....
Reply:Follow these simple steps, twice a day. Morning and evening.

1. Cleanser - Any type. But I recommend you the one which have salicylic acid in it. I'm using St. Ives Apricot Radiance Blemish Fighting Cream Cleanser with Salicylic acid or you can use Apricot Radiance Deep Cleanser. http://www.stives.com/products/show_prod...

2. Benzoyl peroxide - You can get them from the pharmacy.

Use 2.5% BP only OK. I recommend you to use Oxy 2.5% BP.

Apply generously to your face.

3, Moisturize - Even if you have an oily skin you must use it because the BP will make your face super dry (it happened to my face), to protect you face from sun ray. You can use any kind of moisturizer you like.

Try this for 2 weeks.

Can accutane help with dandruff?

well, first I heard accutane was taken off the market, is this true? Anyways I took accutane for my acne (took so many drugs before that I can't even remember till I finally took accutane) well, it did work but only for a little bit, but my acne never comes as inflared as it did b4. I would like to take accutane to finally get rid of my frustrating acne. And also, while I was on accutane my dandruff went away! When my acne came back so did the dandruff. What do you think the cause of this is? I find it odd because in the side effects of the drug is dandruff but it did the opposite. Do I have some skin disorder thats on my scalp as well? And I am starting to loose hair. Im 22 years old and female, and no family history of this.

Can accutane help with dandruff?
Accutane (or Roaccutane in the UK) can cause thinning of the hair and general hairloss. If you're experiencing this, it's time to talk to your doctor.

Roaccutane worked for me, although my acne has return, though it's a lot less severe. I can now manage it with a topical lotion.

I'm not sure why your dandruff improved whilst taking accutane. Did you use a different shampoo and conditioner throughout that time? You may just have found the right balance.

I don't think that Accutane has been removed from the market just yet, but due to the increased risk of suicide, I believe that doctors do have major concern about its use.

What do i do if at fifteen i do not have a boyfriend cos i am fat and i have at bad and unfriendly attitude.?

i also have a skin disorder which is of course not contagious and the only person who asked me out has a slight emotional and mental problem so i did not agree.i also find it very difficult to make friends and i am mean to those that love me.i obviously have a lot of problems so i need help fast.Thank u very much if u reply my message.

What do i do if at fifteen i do not have a boyfriend cos i am fat and i have at bad and unfriendly attitude.?
You have to look into why you have such an unfriendly attitude. More than likely, you aren't happy with yourself and you just have a tendency to take it out on other people. You need to learn to love yourself first and foremost, or no one else will ever be able to make you happy anyway.

Is there anything that you can do about your skin disorder? Are there any medications that a dermatologist can prescribe to lessen the effects? I'm sure this would help you feel alot less self-conscious. Also, if you feel like you are fat, just start exercising. Start eating healthy. Being overweight is a choice, just like being healthy is. Its not going to be easy, but set realistic goals for yourself. Try to lose 5-7 lbs a month. I know that doesn't sound like very much, but over a few months time it will definitely start to show! Also, when you lose weight over a period of time, you'll be more likely to keep it off!

And ... you need to learn that your worth is not decided by how you look or if you have a boyfriend. I know that's alot easier said than done. Since it seems like you have big self-image problems, you might want to talk to your parents about seeing a counselor. Work on your feelings about yourself and you'll find it much easier to be nice to other people. You'll also notice people wanting to spend more time with you because your attitude will improve! Boys come and go, but having self-confidence problems can cause a lifetime of unnecessary hardship and pain. I wish you the best of luck!
Reply:If you know that you are being mean then stop being mean....it really can't be that hard.
Reply:first off, work on the bad unfriendly attitude.

secondly, you'll be surprised at how much better you'll like people, and they'll like you.
Reply:First of all... try being nice to people

and if you wanna lose weight work out

Reply:Well sounds like you have the attitude of a lesbian. Go find a girlfriend.
Reply:Maybe to lose some weight. Activity helps you in more ways than one. I'm not depressed or as mean as I used to be because I get up and do stuff now.
Reply:I'm sure it's more your attitude than a skin disorder or weight. Work on improving your attitude problem and you shouldn't have too much of a problem. It's all about confidence.
Reply:You are only 15. Who needs a boyfriend then? They are nothing but trouble. Wait until they (and you) grow up a bit. You are still becoming the person you are meant to be. Don't be so hard on yourself. Focus on improving what you can. A lot of things seem to work themselves out all by themselves as you get a little older. Best wishes to you.
Reply:First work on your attitude, perhaps counseling that is the biggest thing keeping people away from you.

Talk to your doctor about the weight and for the skin problem he might be able to recommend a dermatologist.

But the attitude and how you treat people is first, seek counseling.
Reply:well, now that you know you have a problem, it is time to do somethign about it.

work out and drink plenty of water to keep pounds off and keep your skin clear.

you know you have a bad attitued towards people, now you just need to learn how to control your emotions, because as humans, we are all completely in control of whether something makes us mad, happy, sad, or excited.

you just need to work your problems out.. fix yourself first.. hold off on a relationship because that will only complicate things.
Reply:well you could start with trying to be a nicer person. duh
Reply:i don't think that you're going to find any quick fixes here, you need to see a professional about your attitude. maybe you could talk to your school counselor. you have to remember that you are in control of everything you say and do, from being mean to people and treating them like crap to what you are eating that's making you overweight. you need to gain some self-respect among other things.
Reply:You can start by finding something good about yourself!!!
Reply:You will find the right person someday. Have you ever had one? There is some guy out there for you and you will find him one day. Dont worry you are still young so there is plenty of time to find one.
Reply:Sounds like you answered your own question. You know the problems.... So what more would you like? I'm sure if you start being nice things can work out for you. Have A Happy New Year!
Reply:keep up the good work just please dont breed

Reply:Celebrate because you won't up end a single baby momma on welfare like so many other teens.

Your appearance issues will clear up while you are in college and life will be way better because you be on track to a successful career .

God must have something special he wants you to do after the teen years pass.
Reply:At the age of fifteen it is not critical or even wise to have a boyfriend.

Stop and think, what are the reasons for having a boyfriend?

My only answer is the reason for me to have a girlfriend is to marry her and spend the rest of my life with her.

Is there any other good reason?

I mean, what other reason is there?

So at the age of fifteen I hardly think that you will find true love.

When your heart is broken after you give it to someone you lose part of your heart. Wait until your atleast age-worthy to understand love then consider with alot of time and knowing a person that you would love them and be loved.

Once you find what love truly is and maturity has set in (no offense) then when you find love, it won't matter what weight you are, and by that time perhaps life will have tought you lessons on how to treat others and you will have changed socially.

Skin disorder will also mean nothing if you are truly in love.

Only God and family will be the highest appreciations in a true love situation and if this is true it won't matter what physical attributes you have.

So my advice is- wait. It sucks, believe me, but

"if it's worth waiting for, then it's worth waiting for; if it's not worth waiting for- then it's not worth it."

I hope I wasn't thoroughly confusing. If you want to talk more on the subject, you can email me at my yahoo page, or consult more of my best answers to get further clarity.

There is a reason why courting and waiting for marriage etc, produced longer relationships that could span up to 70 years.

I myself know people in that situation. But now in today's have it now have it your way society things fall apart because no foundation was laid.

There is a reason the old-folks have things that work in life.

And there is a reason why less works today.

Why does my kitten "scream"?

I have a female DSH who is about 7 or 8 months old. Whenever she has a bowel movement she starts running around "screaming". She sometimes does this before she uses the restroom as well. She has normal bowel movements and eats a normal diet. She also wheezes all the time especially when she sleeps. What could this be? We used to think she had "rippling skin disorder" but not so much anymore.

Why does my kitten "scream"?
Should take her in to see the kitty doc. Could be a number of things so my opinion would only be speculation and you must care about the baby or you would not have posed the question, so do not rely on speculation......take her to the vet! Hoping I'ts not serious and praying for the little thing.
Reply:maybe it hurts her when she hs to go to the bathroom.
Reply:you take her to the vet
Reply:Take that poor thing to the Vet on Monday. Something is definitely wrong with it.
Reply:Take her straight to the vet. Please.

It sounds like you like her, which makes your question all the more confusing: why wouldn't you take her for help? It's clear she is in pain, and possibly ill, with the wheezing.

Every morning I wake up with new itchy bites, but NO sign of fleas, bedbugs, spiders?

I have vacuumed the whole bedroom, vacuumed the mattress, put it out in the sun, hung the duvet in the sun, washed all the linen. Not once have I seen a sign of any kind of bug, and I've looked carefully, yet every morning I wake up with a few more itchy bites. It's driving me crazy, been going on for a few weeks. Is it possible that you can have a skin disorder or allergy where you self-generate "bites"? Or what?! Any suggestions?

Every morning I wake up with new itchy bites, but NO sign of fleas, bedbugs, spiders?
Dude!! I have no idea what it is but the same thing happened to me and my boyfriend when we first moved into our house! We bleached EVERYTHING that touches us when we sleep and it stopped. Keep in mind that you could be allergic to your detergent so try switching just to be sure. Even if you've been using that detergent for awhile you can develop an allergy over time so it's worth a try if the bleach doesn't work.
Reply:It could be gnats or mosquitoes it doesn't have to be hot for them to be about .If you live near a lake or pond you are more likely to get them
Reply:I don't know if you have resolved your problem of itchy bites....but it could be SCABIES. Suggest you see dermatologist.
Reply:Did you switch soaps or started using any new products?
Reply:GROSS! You need more Jell-O in your diet
Reply:have you been to the beach or lake cause it could be lice bites....they get under the skin and cause the same reaction
Reply:The same thing was happening to my daughter. She used to sleep with us and they were only biting her. My husbands friend does pest control and said to look for very tiny spiders. We had a recessed light on the ceiling above the bed, and sure enough one night we say a tiny spider hanging from there. Then we saw some on the bed. They are barely visible and white.

YellowLabs?

I have a yellow lab that has a raw looking sore on her neck,i dont belive it has anything to do with her collar, she has had this once before and i changed collars but it came back about 8 mounths later is it a skin disorder and if so what can be done.It also has a bad order too. When she goes out side the first thing she does is roll on the ground,She remains very happy even with this, but i dont belive this is nomal. Can you help?

YellowLabs?
Vet, vet, vet. You need to get this under control before fly strike season, otherwise you will have a much more serious problem on your hands.
Reply:go to the vet
Reply:When she was outside she may have cut her skin on sompthing. I would take her to the vet and get it checked out before it gets infected becouse even though it might seem that she's happy she may be in a LOT of pain.

Good luck. I hope your dog get's feeling better soon :)
Reply:Your dog has a hot spot and need to go to the vet. It is probably from her collar. Is it to tight around her neck???

Once their skin get irritated then the dog starts to scratch it and it get all infected.

Your going to have to bring her to the vets for some antibiotics and some ointment to put on it so it can heal.
Reply:It may be a skin disease, allergies, fleas, or ticks etc. I think your best bet is to consult your vet.
Reply:U DEF. NEED TO TAKE TO THE VET!!! u better take to the vet before it gets worse and the bill goes higher DO NOT WAIT!!!
Reply:It is definitely a hot spot, which is fairly common. I have had 2 Labs that have both had them. They often reoccur in the same place. I would say that it is from the collar. Hot spots can be dangerous if left untreated, and they can become infected. I would be very concerned at the fact that it has an odor. Don't take something like this lightly. I don't know how long your dog has now had it, but there is no question that you need to take her to the vet A.S.A.P.
Reply:Animals instincts tell them to live with the pain and hide it (after all, it isn;t surviaval of the hurt) so she won't let on its bothering her untill the pain is severe and unbearable. don't let it get to this point, take her to the vet right away!
Reply:go to your vet and tell them about the spot. and some dogs just like to roll around

Do you think he loves me?

My best friend of 10 years told me that he's romantically in love with me for the last few years. However, his actions don't speak his words. For example:

* He stands me up when we make plans to hang out.

* Sarcastically blurts out at me when I ask him his opinion on something.

* Rolls his eyes at me when I share my thoughts if I repeat them if something is bothering me.

* He don't listen to what I tell him. I tell him something over and over again, but he'll still do his own way.

* He has a skin disorder and I've asked him kindly to go to the Dr because he does have an odor, but he has NOT gone in the 10 years I've complained about it to him.

* Says he'll call, but he don't.

* Missed my Birthday.

I can go on and on. I've told him many, many times that you don't do these things to someone you so-called LOVE! I know I couldn't. In your opinion, what do you think of this? It really bothers me!

Do you think he loves me?
Common is this what you deserve? Why would you waste your time. You know you are not happy all you care is that you have a boyfriend. No one should ever stand you up. That is disrespectful and a lousy thing to do.
Reply:no i dnt think he loves u in a way one has 2 be luvd in marriage. maybe he's confused about luv and friendship since u'v been friends 4 lyk 10yrs.

Vitiliago???

Has anyone ever heard of this skin disorder?? I found out that I have it so I have light spots on my face. I've been told that I would have to wear concealer and makeup to cover this. Is there a cure??

Vitiliago???
my aunt has that and they put her on meds. She said that she hasnt noticed them getting any better, but she hasnt really seen any new spots lately. If your not on some type of med talk to your doctor about getting on one.

What is charasma?

maybe it's skin disorder

What is charasma?
No Charisma is not a skin disorder. The first person that comes to my mind for Charisma, if Former President Bill Clinton, I believe he could charm a squirrel out of a tree. He is an exceptional speaker, one could not in my opinion get the sleepies, when he is speaking. Charisma is a very strong, intense, attraction to someone, not sexual, but one if drawn to hang on every word, this person speaks. For it's as if they are speaking only to you. The radiate with positive energy, and endless energy. Thanks for the opportunity to address this question. And if you are referring to a health issue, sweetheart the word is misspelled. And if this is the case, I'm sorry I didn't address your question.
Reply:Charisma? I would define someone with charisma as a bubbly, outgoing person.
Reply:Charisma? Not a skin disorder. Don't know about charasma.
Reply:If you mean charisma, it is the natural ability some people have to influence others; could be to entertain or make other people feel comfortable - but it is certainly a talent nonetheless.

What are these white patches on my arm?

I have eczema, which is a genetic skin disorder that I got from my dad and have since I was born. I usually break out on my arms. But never like this. It usually just itchs, gets red, then peels. Normal reaction. I don't want to go to the dermatologist because I'm broke. Should I use elidel on it? Which is the cream that "treats" it. Does anyone else have eczema? If so, have you ever gotten these?

What are these white patches on my arm?
if it is a patch of skin that is a little dry and has less pigmentation that the rest of your skin it could be caused by a bacteria that grows on your skin. My boyfriend gets it and it has to be treated with a special soap and a special cream. It sort of looks like white spots, but he says it doesn't itch, not sure if that is what you have, but if so...you can't treat it over the counter and the soap and meds are pretty expensive. one tube of the cream costs him $40 and that is after insurance pays their portion.

As far as personal experiance goes my uncle has some places on like his knees and his dr said to go to the tanning bed, no joke the tanning bed. There is a web site that has cream u can purchase for temp relif. I hope this helps.

Reply:To help your skin on a daily basis you need to look at prevention. All disorders are caused by something. For dietary needs make sure that you take a good omega 3 fish oil supplement (flax if you are vegetarian). Fish oils can help with the following; Mood, joints, cognitive thinking, inflamation, immune system, and hair skin and nail health. If you are deficient it could take several months to notice a change in your skin as omega 3's start nourishing the inside of our bodies going to the brain first then internal organs etc, and finally to the skin, hair and nails. Make sure you keep your intake of fibre up and take a good probiotic such as acidopholous. It is good bacteria found in food such as yogurt and kefir. For topical, I would suggest a good unscented natural lotion. Some of them come medicated for skin. Talk to your consultants at your local health food store for natural options. Good luck
Reply:Yep, no cure. I recently saw on tv that there is a psoriasis support group online now. There's probably plenty of great advice on how to treat it there. I have eczema and the only thing that really works for an outbreak is diprolene.
Reply:Cures are hard to find. For a non-alternative medicine prescription product that treats the outward condition, try this: Geri-Hydrolac 12 Ammonium Lactate Lotion and Dovonex (calcipotriene ointment), 0.005%.

For alternative real solutions, try the method ascribed to by Dr. Don Colbert, M.D. in his book called Toxic Relief. This book is about NATURAL detoxifying and has special instructions in it for psoriasis sufferers. A smaller book of his probably deals with it more specifically.

I wish I had the old juicing book handy that I picked up at a used bookstore years ago. In the same vein as Dr. Colbert, particular juices were used to purify the blood and liver. So a cleanse would surely help.

My spouse has suffered for 25 years. He said at the time the psoriasis came he was very healthy (and young). During the years he drank, psoriasis disappeared. This is NOT a recommended solution. What he has determined from everything is that this is an internal problem, specifically with the blood.

I sincerely hope all this helps. Buttercup
Reply:There are succesfull herbal treatments for that. Go to a good chinese docter - in the Kruisstraat in Eindhoven there is one I can personally recomment.

All the best. Still in town????
Reply:there is a shot that is available through your dr. but can be costly and reguires monthly blood testing, but the results are amazing. i have psoriasis and it was severe when i was younger but now is only moderate and creams are more aggravating then a help. my sister-in-law has severe psoriasis and takes the shots with amazing results but as with any treatment there can be draw backs and the only one she has had so far with this treatment was a severe out break when she stopped taking the shot for 2 months, insurance problem. take to your dr. its worth a try. hope this helped.
Reply:I'm not sure about a cure but you do need to treat the cause rather than the symptoms. I take an all natural product that has medical validation. It is an adaptogen which goes to work on all auto-immune deficiencies including psoriasis and ezcema. Once things are balanced in your system, you no longer experience the flare-ups. I have found success with this.

Reply:This may sound crazy, but from what I hear, you should try horse's milk. A friend of mine has suffered his whole life from psoriasis, as did his father and brother. They tried everything they could get their hands on, and since they started using horse's milk (I think they're just rubbing it into their skin, not drinking it) they're itch and rash free.
Reply:Outside of creams, lotions, and meds - I have seen one other thing work. I'll admit however, that it sounds like quackery, but I know the doc who does it, and i've seen the before and after photos.

The doctor is a chiropractor that uses a treatment approach called "Toftness". This type of treatment has much documented success, but I have never tried the therapy on any of my patients. If you want more info you can search the web, or give me an email and I will give you the number for the doc and he can find a practitioner in your area.

Best of wishes.

I feel like eczema has a life of its own?

I can't stop scratching like hell. Wish i could just die a long time ago. I already have cuts on my body and scars and on my back. My pajamas are stained in blood and over my bed sheets. I'd tried everything. I wish i can cut down my fingers, so I would stop itching crazily during the night. My fingers used to ooze this yellow substance and I feel so dirty with this skin disorder. I am also allergic to certain foods and pets. I am in my own nightmare. It is hard to fall asleep without scratching anywhere on my body. help!

I feel like eczema has a life of its own?
Hello, Pi. I used to be like you last winter with a dirty greenish crust on my face. The thing that worked for me - and I suggest that you give a try too - was the cream and spray from http://www.champori.com It is herbal (safely free of steroids) and it took only 2 weeks to clear my face. Try it (it comes with money back guarantee so there is nothing to lose)

Best,

Bernadette

I know this will help you ... Please make the connection.

I am a nurse with over 25 years experience in this area and I have seen a lot of people with various illnesses caused from chemicals and fragranced products as well as VOC’s in their homes, schools and workplace. This problem is growing as more and more chemicals are being introduced and used on a daily basis.

We are seeing more and more people with Asthma, itchy or watery eyes, Migraines, Headaches, Allergies, Hives and respiratory illnesses. I can not emphasize how important it is to educate yourself about MCS and the harm you may be doing to your health by using chemicals and fragranced products.

If you or a loved one suffers from Asthma, Allergies, Eczema, chronic headaches, reproductive problems, Migraines, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, you need to read further and learn about the signs and symptoms of MCS - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

Most doctors will not inform you about this because patients as a whole like to walk out of a doctors office with a prescription for some magical medicine and they do not want to be told that their expensive new perfume or newly installed carpet may be the culprit. So, the doctor will give you medications and many of these meds either do not work or cause other health problems.

Chemicals and fragranced products are often the root of all evil when it comes to your health. Many of the below mentioned items are common triggers to sinus, asthma, itching, headaches, Migraines and allergy problems amongst other health issues. Get rid of them and your lungs will thank you and you will breathe easier.

And, it is not only personal body or cleaning products causing havoc on your health….many people become ill after wearing brand new clothing, dry-cleaned clothes, installing new carpet, painting, buying a new mattress or after home renovations because of the Flame Retardants, Benzenes, Formaldehydes, etc. used in these products. So the answer is NO, you are not imagining that 2 weeks after your home, office or classroom got renovated you started to become ill, get dizzy or have headaches. This is happening more and more these days and adults as well as children are becoming sicker and sicker.

Unfortunately, too many doctors compound the problem by prescribing chemical medications to try to alleviate the symptoms of an already chemical overloaded body and they rarely tell the patient to eliminate the chemical offenders. How many times have I seen people in the grocery store with Bounce, Glade Plug-Ins and Febreeze in their shopping cart along with a bottle of Benadryl , Migraine Excedrin and a box of Allergy Tablets ? Why don’t they make the connection?

BIG NO-NO’s

No Bounce or dryer sheets

No Febreeze

No Aftershave

No Body sprays or cologne

No Glade Plug-ins

No scented candles

No Fragranced Products on Body, Hair or Clothing

No Smoke

No Dander

No Sprays

Auto-immune Disease?

Anyone suffering from an Auto-immune Disease called Pemphigus?

How long have you been dealing with it?

What meds are or have you been on?

Are you in remission?

Any tips that you may have to offer would be appreciated. I was diagnosed back in January and have it under control thanks to being on Prednisone but if you've ever been on this med you'd know that it is not beneficial to be on it for long term, 3 more weeks will make a full year with it in my system.

Any info would help. And I'd appreciate it if I didn't get any unneccesscary answers as this is a very serious issue for me and others. It is a skin disorder that (in my case) affects the mucous membranes with lesions. It's very painful.

Auto-immune Disease?
There are 3 types of Pemphigus: The 2 which may apply to you are PARANEOPLASTIC PEMPHIGUS (PNP) or PEMPHIGUS VULGARIS (PV). Which do you have?

I assume you have the latter as it is the most common, and thankfully least serious.

There is no specific cure available, but the condition is controllable with heavy immunosuppressive treatment.

The standard treatment is with corticosteroids, which are often started at high doses (eg. 60-100mg per day), together with immunosuppressive drugs (Azathioprine, Cyclophosphamide, Mycophenolate mofetil, Cyclosporin, Methotrexate). Other treatments sometimes used are: Dapsone; Gold injections; Tetracycline, minocycline or doxycycline combined with niacinamide; plasmapheresis (plasma exchange); intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg). Both plasmapheresis and IVIg treatment are only used in rare instances.

A new group of medicines called biologics are being developed by a number of pharmaceutical companies (for example Rituximab is a biologic that is used to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma). It is possible that some of these in time may prove themselves to be useful in the treatment of PV, although a lot of studies and tests have yet to be done to find out if this is the case.

Drug doses are reduced slowly to the minimum required to keep the condition under control (which varies from individual to individual).

Topical therapies are sometimes given together with systemic drugs to help heal difficult erosions.

I know its medical jargon, but perhaps you can discuss this with your doctor. I hope you are seeing a specialist such as a haemotoligist or immunologist as well as a dermatologist for the most up to date treatment available.

Chris- Registered Nurse.
Reply:I have Pemphigus Foliceous as well! I can understand your pain! Most doctors dont even know of this disease. I only get lesions a few times a year and use cortisone creams to control it. Hope you are doing better now. It's a tough disease to battle. Report It

Reply:I know some about Auto-immune Diseases, however this condition I don't have much knowledge.

I found this link that might help to make clear your doubts, but also check with you doctor.

I get hives every day--help?

Everyday I start to hitch, and whenever I scratch any part of my body, it results in a hive. If I don't scratch, there are no hives, only whenever I do. Or, I could scrape my arm on my desk, and the same thing happens. I take a Zyrtec pretty much every day, but they always make me sleepy. Claritan and Allegre haven't worked for me. I really would like to know what it's from. If it's an allergy, or if it's some type of a skin disorder??

I get hives every day--help?
I feel for you because I have had hives for 7 years although I have had 26 non-consecutive hours during that time without them (hoorah). There are many different types of hives and yours may be pressure hives which are caused by simply contact or pressure against something. Check out the urticaria site at www.chronicurticaria.com or even the yahoo site, www.urticaria@yahoogroups.com. There is a lot of information about the different types of hives.

Most people believe that hives are caused by an allergic reaction to something, but that is a myth and only one reason among many that hives appear.

I think you should also let your doctor know that the anti-histamine you are taking does not manage them. There are a lot of other choices, I could not handle the fatigue associated with Zyrtec myself. Plus, your doctor can run blood tests to determine the underlying cause and will better be able to manage them.

A little hint to help with the scratching. Oatmeal is the hivers friend. Aveeno and Equate both make a preparation of collodial oatmeal baths which really help stop the itching. I also use Suave oatmeal shower wash and have oatmeal moisturizer I carry with me where ever I go for instantaneous relief.
Reply:Find a Natural Med and ask about NAET. NAET program it will cure all the allergies. So far 8000 practitioner are available across USA.
Reply:have you changed anything, laundry detergent, soap, etc. that will usually cause allergic reactions. It could also be environmental. I found that in the spring I get hives from the pollen. next step would be an allergist. they can do skin and blood tests to determine what it is. most insurance carriers will cover the testing with just an office visit copay. I know that allegra is used for itchy skin. It doesn't seem to have as may side effects. Go get a cup of coffee and wake up. then call your primary doctor and ask for a referral to the allergist. Good luck and STOP SCRATCHING!!
Reply:Its best not to scratch and to keep having checkups with your doctor.
Reply:I have ezcema. It sucks!!! I itch all the time, and I break out in rashes that look like hives. You might need to start tanning, or go to your local skin doctor. Not you regular doctor. I tried that and it got me no where!!! They done a patch test on me to see what I am allergic too. Yeah I am allergic to this thing that is in all lotions, and most of the food I eat. Just some options. Also try taking the Zyrtec at night a couple hours before bed...it should last you at least until you can take the next one! Also try to use the 'free' soaps when you do your laundry. It has done dreams for me.

Reply:Causes Of Lichen Planus

No known cause is known for lichen planus. It is thought that, this may be an autoimmune disease where the white cells of the body attack the skin. It is also thought that a yeast or fungus may be a cause of lichen planus. This is not a hereditary disease, though some members of the same family can get it. It is not a contagious disease. You don't get it by contact. No food product or diet is responsible for causing lichen planus. Some drugs can form lichen planus like rashes, but the rashes clear within few weeks of stopping that drug. In brief, neither any known cause of lichen planus is confirmed, nor any treatment is available that can clear lichen planus. Only relief can be given to the patient.

Reply:maybe your allergic to urine
Reply:It probably is an STI. I highly suggest that you make a doctor's appointment right away to get it looked at. STI's can affect your ability to have children in the future if you don't get them checked out right away.

Is there a treatment for Folliculitis?

Hi! I think i develop a skin disorder called Folliculitis on my both arms.

I had this for 4years now=/

I'm just wondering whether anyone has had the same issue %26amp; what treatment could I go for?

I'm also wondering if it's infectious?

Is there a treatment for Folliculitis?
As you probably know, folliculitis is usually caused by a bacteria in a damaged hair follicle. An old friend had it on his scalp. The derm gave him a round of antibiotics and instructed him to cleanse his scalp with Hibiclens - an antiseptic wash that is also used before surgeries to reduce the risk of infection. You can get it a regular drug store and follow the directions on the package. If you are using anything for the condition already, ask your dr if you can add this to your daily regimen.
Reply:idk
Reply:Um yeah I'm with you there. You should see a doctor, i know how expensive that is tho. Sorry. I have the same condition, on and off, except it's on my feet. I don't know if there's a cure or not, ask your doctor. Good luck %26amp; Happy Halloween!
Reply:i don`t have that disorder exactly but i have keratosis pilaris on the backs of both arms. i`ve had it for about 2-3 yrs. my dermatologist gave me some Retinin A Micro cream %26amp; gel it works!! mine was gone in a week!! hope this helps. :)

My neck got sevely burned and dyed from the hair dye i used, what do you suggest i do?

I dyed my hair about 4-5 years ago with a 15 minute dye, after about 8 minutes into it, i felt that my neck was burning and stinging, i went and washed it out right away and washed my neck the best i could, you couldn't really see any color, but i looked at it th other day because it was stinging and itching a lot and my neck right under my hair line is brown and it stings and burns and itches all the time, it even hurts when i wear a necklace, i think i must have gotten a chemical burn. it looks like i have a really bad skin disorder. what should i do nothing helps to relieve the pain and itching. I need help.

My neck got sevely burned and dyed from the hair dye i used, what do you suggest i do?
Go to the doctor....... soon
Reply:You should see a dermatologist ASAP to get an accurate diagnosis and some relief.
Reply:Go to the doctor or a dermatoligist. For the itching you can use benadryl or hydrocortisone cream
Reply:The chemical burn (which is what you had) went away 4-5 years ago. What you have going on now is something completely unrelated. You could have any number of disorders, but my first suspect would be an allergic reaction to something that touches your neck (clothing, shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener, cologne, cleaner used on car headrest, etc). You may have a bug bite, or heat rash, or some other skin problem like psoriasis. You need to see a dermatologist to find out what is back there. It is unrelated to your burn from the hair dye 4-5 years ago. That is done and over with.
Reply:It would be most unusual for this to happen five years after the hair dyeing episode. I would be willing to guess that your skin is sensitive in that area and that something else has provoked a reaction.

But that's theoretical because either way, if a simple anti-itch cream like Benadryl does not help in a day or two, the dermatologist is the only solution.
Reply:I've had this problem also..for at least 15 years, (how long i've been dyeing my hair). Are you using blonde dye with alot of peroxide? If so, thats the problem...having done this to my neck...i now have a permant kind of scorises on my neck and have to apply meds to it when it acts up. Not getting all the shampoo off of it when washing hair, can also trigger it to act up. It starts out as red and itchy, then turns brown and dry and flakes off when scratched. Will always have this problem with this area now. Certain times of the year, when its really hot and muggy, and you sweat, will make it worse. What type of meds have you tried on it? Have you tried the over-the-counter ones for scoriais? They seem to help mine alot when it acts up. Good Luck!
