I've had this problem for about 4 years now, and i don't even go to the pool anymore because I feel my legs (below the knee) look so ugly. The bruises are gone, if you can understand me - skin is smooth and in one piece - but the shape of the bruise and its dark brown colour - dont fade, as if to remind me everyday of the bruise I once had.
Is this an eating disorder? Is there a cream i can apply? What do I do? By the way, i am diabetic, but i don't believe this has anything to do with it? Or does it?
Pigmentation or something else? I have old bruises on my legs, skin is smooth but bruises never fade - why?
Having diabetes can cause problems with bruising or trouble with bruises going away because of diminished blood flow to the legs/circulation problems - the bruise is not able to be broken down and reabsorbed like it normally would be. My mom has a similar bruise on her leg - I remember her getting the bruise when I was about 10 and the spot is still brown like yours - almost 20 years later.
Reply:Possibly a vitamin K deficiency which causes high vulnerability to bruising. See doctor or nutritionist.
And it might very well be tied to your diabetic disorder.
Reply:being diabetic may have something to do with it see a dermatologist, I had surgery on my foot and ankle and when they removed the bandages 2weeks later alot of my skin from my ankle went with the bandage now I have a few dark brown spots where that happened, there not scars just dark spot, kinda looks like dirt, but my doc didnt know why that happened either!
Reply:Consistently bruising, and bruises that seem to never fade may be signs of other ailments, but you should definitely go to see a doctor just in case.
