Help-I'm in so much pain-how can I stop my ear from hurting?

I have a skin disorder that turns regular zits or blackheads into cysts or boils-right now I have an infected blackhead in a terribly sensitive spot in my ear....if you have any ideas - home remedies please help. I'm going to the dr as soon as possible...but I'm in such pain I doubt I'll get to sleep

Help-I'm in so much pain-how can I stop my ear from hurting?
tylenol gelcaps and a heating pad.
Reply:burn it off.
Reply:You can get that stuff called balm bag from the pet store and use it on it. It will draw all the poison out.
Reply:Cut it off.
Reply:I use to have the same issues. Tons of ear problems. Try warming up a towel or a cloth and just resting it on your ear. Do this as much as you can. Take a pain reliever, and take something that will make you fall asleep.
Reply:try to put some cream on it
Reply:You could place a warm face washer on the area. Otherwise take a couple of Panadol pain relief tabs.
Reply:Try a moist heat--for example, put a very warm, wet wash cloth in a sandwich bag (this helps keep the heat in) and put it on your ear. Also, if you can, take some pain relievers for the short term.

Good luck.
Reply:Take either some advil, or buy some swimmers ear, or go to the doctor to see if you might have an ear infection.
Reply:There are triple antibiotic ointments that contain pain reliever but I don't know if they will work for that.
Reply:A hot pack (not too hot) should help give some relief Don't attempt to squeeze them in the ear as you can push pus down the ear canal and cause a middle ear infection which is even worse

Get to DR asap
Reply:smash your foot , it wont cure your ear but it will take your mind off your foot for awhile
Reply:Muffle the pain with an icepack if possible. Take Ibuprofen, it is anti-inflamatory. Is it your outer ear or middle ear? If you can't physically touch the blackhead don't resort to ice. If it is on your outer ear then ice will ease up the swell. Absolutely get to the doctor as soon as possible. If the agitation and infection get too broad it could cause partial hearing loss.
Reply:Do NOT use heat on a skin infection. The people who have suggested that don't know what they are talking about. Take some pain medicine, like Tylenol, and if that's not enough, think about going to the emergency room.

Two years ago, I had an infection in what started as a pimple on the outer part of my ear, and I tried to self-treat it for a couple of days. One of the worst mistakes I ever made. It spread to my face, and by the time I went to the doctor he put me right into the hospital, where I had to get intravenous antibiotics If your cysts, boils, or whatever you have are infected, you need to get antibiotics and soon. If you get treated soon enough, you can probably get away with an oral prescription, which would be a LOT better.

Tonight is Sunday. Go to the doctor tomorrow morning, or, as I said, to a hospital tonight and get treated before you end up IN the hospital.

Good luck!
Reply:I'm sorry to hear that. I know that warm olive oil applied to regular ear aches helps until you can get to a doctor. I don't know whether it will work for your skin condition, but it seems worth a try. Good luck! Feel better soon.
Reply:Fill an old sock with plain white rice and tie a knot in it. Place it in the micro wave for 15 seconds at a time until it is warm (it will get hot fast). Once you have found a good temperature you should be good to go. Nice comfy bag to keep your ear heated into the evening. Hope it helps, though I'd think heat would make it feel worse.
Reply:Try hot soaks. Get a basin of hot water - not hot enough to hurt - and dip a washcloth in it, then hold it against your ear. Refresh the cloth every couple of minutes with more hot water. Do ten minutes of hot soaks, four times daily.

You can also use a teabag instead of the washcloth. The tannic acid from the tea might help the infection, and won't hurt anything (but it will stain clothing!)

good luck
Reply:It sounds like you need to take an anti-inflamation medicine like "Indocid" to deal with the effects of the blood disorder immediately. Make sure to eat before taking them to prevent ulcers. The long term is to put your system back in order. The best way is small doses of "Epsom salts" that cleans the blood. You may have to look at your diet to eliminate "deadly nightshades" that is the plastic skin on tomatoes and chilis, shell fish, and white cheese. Drink plenty of water, and wash outbreaks of pimples regularly with soap and hot water. Do not pick at the pimples, just leave them alone, but I know that you may have a habit of doing it. You will find a black soot in your ears that requires ear drops to ease the pain, but the root cause is the blood condition.
Reply:Take a pain killer ...I'm a beauty consultant and the skin reacts really well to a simple everyday pain killer. Then cleanse the skin gently with warm water and a cotton pad. Finally apply alittle lavender essential oil just to help control the infection (if there is one) until you see your doctor. Apply something warm ONLY if it feels good to you. Be greatful I'm not there cause I'd be trying to extract the little sucker.

Good Luck
Reply:suck can you put some heat on it? what about putting some type of topical skin thing like orajel on there? I'd also take Tylonal PM to help you sleep and for the pain. maybe you should see your dermatologist about getting on some meds to help fight your acne problem
