9 week old puppy has cradle cap?

He has dry flaky skin (looks like a bad case of human dandruff), most of it on his back. The breeder said it is puppy cradle cap, he is growing so fast that the skin is being stretched and making it flake and it will go away by itself as he grows up. Is this true? And is it puppy cradle cap or some skin disorder that will need treatment? Is there treatment for puppy cradle cap like humans can have?

9 week old puppy has cradle cap?
I have raised and bred dogs since 1968 and never heard of puppy cradle cap. None of my puppies have ever had flaky skin. See a Vet with your puppy, it may be something simple or may be serious. At only 9 weeks, the puppy should be soft, cuddly and smell good!
Reply:I hope you didn't pay for the dog. You have some vet fees to pay.

Get it to a vet!!! Could be an allergy, demodex or sarcoptic mange, ringworm is going around pretty bad right now and you can catch it.

I think this takes the question of the day!!!
Reply:Dobermans have dry flaky skin as puppies. I don't know what you have though.
Reply:Puppies can get dandruff when they are small but they do grow out of it eventually. One of my Goldens had dandruff as a puppy and my Vet recommended that I gave her 1 tspoon of Evening Primrose Oil in her food once a day. It cleared up in no time.

You can also bathe him in Johnsons Cradle Cap shampoo, the one they use for babies. This will also help to clear the dandruff.
