Why are some people free of lifes problems while others are drowning in them?

My friend Charles (click on link) is free of all of life's biggest challenges. I have known Charles since he was 4 so I do have a pretty good idea what his life is like. But honestly, his life is so perfect yet mine is horrible and I am determined to get an answer as to why his life is so perfect and mine sucks. He is 10000 times smarter then me. His family is rich, he has better social skills then me, he is happy with who he is, his family loves one another, and the list just goes on. I suffer from Depression, I have NUMEROUS problems from skin disorders, mental disorders, bone problems, breathing problems, and it goes on. My family hates one another, I am a complete idiot, I have bad social skills, not very well off in terms of wealth, and have less then 4 friends, I hate myself, and the list goes on. Why is his life so damn perfect and mine just sucks? I am like Bruce in Bruce Almighty and Charles is like Evan Baxter except not rude and mean.

Why are some people free of lifes problems while others are drowning in them?
Uh.. He's pretty; o_o

TJ YOU ARE AMAZINGNESS!

STOP LETTING YOURSELF DOWN-

Reply:Everyone is dealt their own cards. It doesn't seem fair when you compare your situation to those who are more fortunate in various ways. And life isn't fair, and you know that.

However, one thing I can tell you is that your friend is not free of all life's biggest challenges. His challenges may not be visible to you (he may be great at hiding them, as many are), but everyone suffers. Ask yourself why so many celebrities are miserable.

But that doesn't answer your question either. There isn't a simple answer that you'll be happy with. The only answer I can think to give you that might actually provide some comfort is that if you can connect on some basic level with what makes you happy - makes you feel real, alive - then the various problems in your life will feel more manageable. How does one do that? Some turn to spirituality. Others to therapy. Still others seek it in relationships. There's no sure-fire path, but one thing is certain - you must seek. Life has no pity for those that sit around and complain.
Reply:You can't keep comparing your life to anyone else. Good things happen to good people so just relax, stay positive and optimisitic. I know it sounds like a load of crap, but you have a whole lifetime to get it right. Maybe like bruce, you need God.

And even then God will only give you the opportunity, you have to make it happen.

I've been through depression and now i'm a better person because of it.
Reply:I can tell you're not an idiot

Your mind is in the wrong place!

Stop thinking of what you don't have because thats not going to get you anywhere. All it does is make you feel sorry for yourself and gives you more of what you don't want.

Think of what you DO have. The good qualities that you have. and no, they don't have to be physical; that goes away eventually. what's important is whats in your mind. once you change your thinking you'll be a happier person.

i know all about not having many friends. i only have like 1 at school. it's not really a big deal
