Eating Disorder, Fetish or what? And is it harmful?

I have a client who eats her fingernails, skin, hair, nasal discharge and bu****s, eye crust and scabs. Is this a person stuck in an infantile stage of develpment, part of a fetish (she is non-sexual and claims to have no libido) or simply a form of pica? My actual main concern however is whether the consumption of her own flesh can harm her in any way. I have heard that cannibals are more likely to develop brain diseases and I am thinking this is a form of self-cannibalism.

Eating Disorder, Fetish or what? And is it harmful?
I do not think it is an "eating disorder" per say, but rather possibly a form of OCD. As long as the eating of scabs doesn't interfere with healing of sores, than there is most likely no significant danger. The problem most cannibals encounter is eating the brains of other people.

"The brain diseases, called prion diseases, are characterized by loss of coordination, dementia, paralysis, and eventually death. Modern examples include Creutzfeld Jacob disease and kuru in humans, and mad cow disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy, in animals."

Hope this helps!
Reply:I've never heard of something like this, does'nt sound like a healthy diet though, you'd best ask a professional this type of question, this girl needs serious help though, hope you can give it to her.
Reply:Hmm sounds deffantly disgusting could be harmful I would think eating her own flesh yuck! Okay I gotta go puke now...
Reply:i do not think that eating her body crusts and skin would hurt her. Most kids eat their own scabs or swallow nails at some stage. Cannibals are at risk because they are eating other peoples bodies and as they ar eating their own kind any diseases are easily transmitted.

I dont think I would classify it as an eating diorder - but rather a manifistation of her disordered or psychotic state.
Reply:it's quite bizarre.i think u shld see a specialist.
