When I was younger, I had an eating disorder and starved myself. When I got better and began to regain weight to a healthy level, I started noticing that my stomach didn't look normal. I know when overweight people lose weight, they sometimes have excess skin--I don't know if this can happen in reverse. Not at all overweight now, just have this excess skin. Do a lot of crunches, but that doesn't seem to help.
What exercises can I do to get rid of excess skin?
Drinking the correct amount of water can help. Eight 8oz glasses of water is what's suggested... it helps (I'm going to butcher this word...)elastisize your skin to form to your body. (meaning it will shrink the skin) Toning exercises can help as well as mentioned, tae-bo and pilates... but the main ingredient is water!
Reply:taebo or pilates... any toning excersises
Reply:There is no way to "get rid of" excess skin - you can burn fat and become leaner overall, but there's no way to get rid of loose skin (unless you have a tummy tuck, which proves that people can work out and diet as much as they want but excess skin doesn't go away so they turn to cosmetic surgery). You can certainly at least minimize the appearance of excess skin by doing your ab workouts, but sorry - excess skin doesn't go away without surgery.
Also, try new ab workouts in addition to crunches b/c crunches alone don't work out ALL of your stomach muscles. Crunches focus more on your upper stomach and your sides, but don't really do too much for the lower abs. These sites have great animated exercise demos %26amp; also tell you which stomach muscles each exercise focuses on:
