Does my dog have O.C.D?

I have a chi/beagle mix, and whenever any part of my skin is uncovered she will lick me. She will lick it untill my skin is soaked, and if I don't expose more skin for her to lick she'll get frustrated and lick the mattress (this usually happens at night, she sleeps under the covers).

Is it possible she has obsessive compulsive disorder? She is 14, and I've had her for 4 years, she's been doing this for as long as I can remember. She is perfectly healthy besides having epilepsy which she is on Phenobarbitol for.

Any ideas are appreciated =) Thanks.

May be trying for the salt or minerals in your skin oils. My last dog also had epilepsy and took phenobarbitol, he was very thirsty all the time, drank a lot of water and peed a lot. I think that depletes their bodies of some minerals. Try giving her dog vitamins.
Reply:I never heard of any dog being diagnosed with OCD. That mix is rather strange....may have something to do with that. (I wish people would try to keep breeds pure) It could be a sign that she was taken away from her mom at too early an age. Ask your vet for his opinion.
Reply:Yes. Take her to psych to be sure or find that dog whisperer guy
Reply:yes. anything with a mind and capable of thought can have a mental disorder. dogs are mentally 4yr old humans. i'm taking psychology right now and that seriously sounds like OCD to me.
Reply:Well ok here goes nothin!!My opinion is no because my dog does the

same thing and shes only two.most of the time when she licks me,im asleep and she licks my arm,or my foot. The reason they lick you is because there is special salt in our skin that they aparantley love to lick. Good luck and i think that your dog is just being, well a normal dog.
Reply:In my experience, some breeds have a genetic disposition to have ocd.. My aunt used to have a rott that would licks its own paw until there would be no hair on it and the vet concluded it had ocd... As long as its not really harming your dog or anyone else, I don't think its a problem. If you have any concerns about it, I would definitely ask your vet. I've included a link from the dog channel website that rates your dog's ocd to see if you should seek professional help. Hope that helps!
